TRM (Thailand Reference Material)

TRM (Thailand Reference Material) is a certified reference material issued by the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), NIMT and its designated institute. TRM with a roof shape logo is a registered trademark of NIMT with the department of intellectual property, Thailand. TRMs are produced to the highest standards according to ISO Guide 34 ensuring their consistent quality. TRMs are produced with a well-defined traceability linkage to SI unit (Mole). The traceability is established via NIMT criteria using metrologically valid procedures for the certification of reference material given by NIMT.

Certified Reference Material

According to the Vocabulary in Metrology (VIM), 3rd edition 2012, “Certified Reference Material (CRM) is a reference material, accompanied by documentation issued by an authoritative body and providing one or more property values with associated uncertainties and traceabilities, using valid procedures”. In order to ensure the quality of a CRM, it is important to perform homogeneity and stability tests. The property values of a CRM are characterized by a metrologically valid procedure and their associated uncertainties are rigorously estimated. Certified Reference Materials are prepared and utilized for three main purposes

  • to develop and/or validate measurement methods
  • to calibrate measurement systems
  • to maintain measurement quality assurance programs.

Measurement Traceability

Measurement traceability is defined as “the property of the result of a measurement or the value of a standard whereby it can be related to stated common references such as SI units, CRM and measurement procedure, through an unbroken chain of comparisons all having stated uncertainties”.

TRM (Thailand Reference Material)

A Thailand Reference Material (TRM) is a certified reference material issued by the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), NIMT. To maintain the quality systems of TRM production, all requirements stated in ISO Guide 34 are implemented. Property values of TRM are metrologically traceable to the unit of SI Units e.g. mol. NIMT has consistently demonstrated competence in the Consultative Committee for Amount of Substance: Metrology in Chemistry and Biology (CCQM) Key Comparison programs. The measurement competent of NIMT will then be listed in the BIPM Key Comparison Data Base (KCDB) with its Calibration and Measurement Capability (CMC) indicated in Appendix C.
